Creating a health and fitness brand that matters means so much more than simply establishing your pretty logo and websites color scheme. From the kind of message you want to send to the world, to how you want to spend your day, all these things are establishing your brand and business.

Unfortunately, I know a lot of entrepreneurs who’ve created businesses that just don’t feel right. They end up offering a product or service that doesn’t align with their big vision. This means they resent their clients, hate what they’re doing, and build a brand that doesn’t make a big impact.

Remember, you’re in control of your business and what you offer.

Building a wellness brand that matters comes down to using your own personal experiences. Creating a brand that is really aligned with you and who you serve will mean that you’ll be doing fulfilling work that makes a big impact on others lives.

So, let’s get started and build a health and fitness brand that matters.

What do you want to be known for?

If you could only pick one thing to do, business-wise, what would that be? Your answer just may give you a clue as to what you want to be known for.

This is the work that you absolutely love doing and could do day in and day out with a smile on your face. This is the kind of work you want to build a brand around.

You don’t want to build a brand around the things you can’t stand doing. Do consider what those things are too. Then you can either eliminate them from your life or hire that role out to another person, who does love doing that thing.

You can also think beyond what the traditional approach is to your specialty. This will allow you to stand out in a saturated industry. How can you shake things up? Your process and personality make your brand unique. Make sure to consider those things too when deciding what you want to be known for.

Is your brand in alignment with your lifestyle?

Whether you’ve been in business for years or are just getting started with building a brand, consider your lifestyle. Build a brand that is in alignment with the way you want to live.

  • If you could plan out your ideal workday, what would that look like?
  • What morning/evening routine would you have surrounding your workday?
  • How many hours do you want to work each day?
  • Do you have other commitments that take up a set amount of time each day?
  • What hours & days would you to work each week? Do you offer evening and weekend work?

After all, It’s your business. You get to decide how things work.

Establishing these kinds of lifestyle goals will allow you to be realistic about what you can accomplish during your working hours. For example, you don’t want to overwhelm yourself with a to-do list filled with tasks if you only want to work 4 hour days.

Be realistic. Live the lifestyle you want. And set your brand and business up for success by considering your lifestyle.

What transformation have you gone through? What stories do you have to tell?

Now you know what work you love doing. What stories do you have to tell? Hint: they should relate to the work you’ll be doing.

Did you go through a transformation that allowed you to go from being on the struggle bus to a person who can solve problems for others? What was your life like before? What is it like now?

For many, there isn’t one answer to this question. There are probably lots of stories you could tell about your journey.

You can develop a story around one single pain point and share how things have changed for you. You probably have a ton of examples of various paint points, struggles, and obstacles that you overcame. Those stories deserve to be heard so you can build a health and fitness brand that matters.

Who relates to these stories?

This ties in with the last question. You’ve got your stories, you know what you want to do, now who wants to buy that thing?

It’s your ideal client, target audience…whatever you want to call them. This is your tribe. Everything you create should be for them and only them.

  • What stories do you have that your ideal client can relate too?
  • How can you bring your ideal client into your existing stories?

And, if your stories don’t match up with your ideal client then they may not be the best fit because they will bring in the wrong audience. You don’t want to cause any confusion on who you serve.

As you can probably tell, everything needs to be in alignment to effectively establish a health and fitness brand that matters. And a brand that matters is simply a business that your tribe will find value in.

Always create from a place of service and helpfulness. Your tribe will be happy to pay you for an offering that really helps them to solve their problems.
