As a designer, I’ve noticed that my clients who share more of their personality and story end up attracting more of the right people to their websites. This means that they waste less time talking to people that aren’t a good fit for their services. And, It means that the people that inquire are ready to buy and excited about the project overall.
I love noticing this kind of trend because it means that I can help serve my clients even better by giving them ways to improve their messaging to attract the right people. As a designer, I’m more in charge of the visuals but totally understand the importance of how messaging and design come together to form a complete brand identity. You really can’t have one without the other.
Keep reading to find out why every single wellness entrepreneur should share their story and philosophy on their website. With a few tweaks, you’ll start letting go of perfect and attracting your ideal clients and customers.
There are hundreds of other wellness entrepreneurs out there who are offering similar services to you. But one thing you have going for you is that none of them are you. To attract your ideal clients and customers you have to give them something that they can connect with.
Remind yourself that you are special and that people want to learn more about you. Surprisingly, people don’t buy from you because of all of the little details in your perfectly curated packages. They buy from you because they like you. They’ve made a connection with you and are choosing to work with you because of that connection.
This is especially true for wellness entrepreneurs because your clients are going to be opening up to you about some very personal things. They will be turning to you for advice, for comfort, and for support. If you can’t open up to them and be relatable then why should they open up to you?
Everyone loves a good story. Share a little bit about what makes you, you. You can share your experiences, struggles, goals, and failures on your blog or on social media. Your weekly emails are another amazing place to connect with your subscribers by sharing your story.
Of course, only share stories that you’re comfortable with having on the internet for the world to see. At first, it can definitely feel uncomfortable to open up to others. I understand because I struggle with it and I think many entrepreneurs out there can relate. But, if you only feel uncomfortable because you’re worried what people will think, that’s not a good enough reason not to do it. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and just be you. The more you share, the more comfortable you’ll become with it.
Having trouble getting started? Write a blog post about how you became a wellness entrepreneur. I wrote something similar on my blog and it was a great way to tell my story about how I became a designer. It was one of the most fun posts I’ve written and I was able to naturally open up about my unique journey.
Every single wellness entrepreneur needs to share their personal philosophy on their website. Your philosophy is what sets you apart from other business owners in your field.
Your about page is a wonderful place to go into more detail about your philosophy on health, life, fitness, self-care, or whatever it may be that you’re offering. After all, people go to this page to connect with you. Giving them a peek into your philography will allow them to connect with you if they are the right fit for your brand.
You should also share your philosophy regularly on social media, your blog, and with your email list. That way people can continue to connect with you.
Having trouble getting started? Try tying your philosophy into your story and explain how the two connect. For example, share how you coaching program or services work. Tie this into your Philosophy so that people understand why you do things the way you do them.
Just to reiterate, people start working with you because they identify with something about who you are. They resonate with your story, your philosophy, or just like your personality overall. Sure, they also want some help with your offering or service but, ultimately, they went with you over the competition because they liked you.
Sounds kinda harsh, but If people can’t get to know you as a person, they won’t really like you that much. If you only show people a super perfectly curated version of yourself then you’re doing yourself a disservice. Your audience won’t be able to connect with you and might even feel intimidated by you.
It’s time to worry less about being perfectly curated in the writing on your website, your marketing and even on social media and start being relatable. Let go of perfect and start being human.
