3 ways to find your ideal clients as a health + wellness expert. Plus, grab the wellness website workbook! A common question I get all the time is how do I find clients? Or really how do I find those dreamy ideal clients? And I totally understand where you’re coming from with this question. Because I have been there.

A common question I get all the time is how do I find clients? Or really how do I find those dreamy ideal clients? And I totally understand where you’re coming from with this question. Because I have been there.

I was struggling to find clients, relying heavily on freelance work to pay my bills, and the clients I did have weren’t quite as dreamy as I’d always imagined they would be. Plus, I was still working crazy hours on my freelance design work. I felt stuck.

Then I got some clarity. I was having trouble reaching the right people because I was serving a niche that wasn’t the best fit for me. I wasn’t working with the right clients. And the right clients (for me!) are health + wellness pros, like you.

So you may be wondering, how do I find clients? But, the question you should be asking yourself is..

Who do I want to serve?

Who do you absolutely love working with? This is a great place to start when you’re trying to niche down and get clarity on who your ideal client is. Think about a few of the past projects you’ve worked on that left you feeling inspired, energized, and just plain happy. These are likely the kinds of clients you want to keep working with.

Another thing to consider when niching down is your own story, personal interests, and overall values. When I niched down this was a big driving force for me. I felt drawn to health + wellness pros because I was constantly in their space in my free time.

I’ve always been a bit of a nerd when it comes to health + wellness. I love researching nutrition facts, the latest natural beauty finds, and self-care everything. Going to the gym and taking yoga classes is a staple in my weekly routine. (Oh, and if you want to read my full story check out my about page)

I was naturally compelled to serve wellness pros because I understand how life changing your work is. So I niched down to help you get your brand and business out there for the world to see.

So, how does this apply to you?

Ask yourself, what kinds of values do I share with my ideal client?

  • What made you get into the health + fitness industry?
  • Do you have a unique story that only a certain niche would love hearing?
  • What do you do in your free time?
  • What kinds of wellness info are you constantly researching?

That’s the perfect place to start.

Here’s an example to get the ideas flowing:

Sarah became a health coach because she struggled with her own health issues. She was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 19 and struggled with insulin resistance, acne, weight gain, and chronic fatigue. She was even starting to get symptoms of anxiety + depression before she decided that she wanted to take control of her disorder.

She did hours of research, read books from experts on the topic, and was eventually able to get her symptoms under control. She started a healthy nutrition and fitness plan to prevent those nasty symptoms that come with uncontrolled insulin highs + lows. She’s lost weight, improved her skin, and feels energized. She then decided to become a health coach because she wanted to help women who were struggling just like she used to with PCOS.

Do you see how compelling that story would be to someone who also struggles with PCOS? Instead of becoming a health coach for everyone out there Sarah was able to work with her ideal client right when she started her business by niching down.
