I absolutely love working with health coaches because you have a really clear vision of who you want to serve. I’m also really into nutrition and try to live a holistic lifestyle myself. So, in general, I just get along with health coaches.
As a brand and website designer, I’ve noticed a few things that my health coach clients have struggled with or just forgot to include on their website before we worked together. I want things to be easy for you! That’s why I’m sharing 4 things that every health coach needs to have on their website.
Oh, and make sure to read to the bottom of the post because I’ve got a website checklist, just for you.
If you haven’t started growing your email list, then you should change that asap. Don’t rely on social media alone for marketing. Algorithms are changing, on what seems like a daily basis. Start driving some of that traffic from social onto your email list, so that you can stay in touch.
As a health coach, I know that you have a ton of knowledge that you could share with your audience through weekly newsletters. Think about sending valuable information that expands upon what you write about on your blog. You can also send content about what’s going on in your business and promote your services/products.
On your website, you need to have an opt-in form so that visitors can join easily. To get more people on your list, you should create a freebie that you give away in exchange for a person’s email address. This could be a sample grocery list, self-care checklist, health audit worksheet, or a nutrition based email course. Really, it can be anything that your audience would find helpful. You want it to be something they’ll get valuable information from so that, it will position you as an expert they can turn to for help.
As a health coach, the best way to work on your visibility is to create quality content that positions you as an expert in your field (think at least 1000 words). Having a blog on your website that you post to regularly will help to keep traffic flowing. Google loves sites that update frequently and will reward you with a higher search engine ranking.
You can also create content by making Youtube videos. Just make sure to embed the videos inside each corresponding blog post too. That way you take advance of the bonus SEO points that Google gives you for posting videos on your site.
Tip: Add content upgrades to your blog posts to get even more people on your list. For instance, if you have a post called How to Implement Self Care into your Business, then include, an opt-in at the end with even more value. Something like a Self Care Checklist will work wonders!
Your clients want to work with someone that they can connect with and relate to. They will likely be opening up to you, about some pretty personal things that they may be struggling with. This is why it’s so important for you to put yourself out there and get a little more personal on your About Page.
A great way to do this is to share your philosophy. Consider sharing your thoughts on food and nutrition, as well as, an overall healthy lifestyle. For instance, if you believe in eating a plant-based diet then you should share that with your audience. You want to only attract the right people to work with you – not everyone. Always remember, you can’t be everything to everyone. Don’t be afraid to niche down and talk to the people that truly resonate with you.

Ask yourself, what is the overall goal of your website? If you’re like most of the health coaches that I’ve worked with, you want to get people on your email list and sell your services. The best way to do this is with a clear call to action on each page of your website. Think of a call to action as a way to guide someone throughout your site in a strategic way.
On the homepage, you could add a call to action to grab your freebie and get on your list. This is the ideal place to add that opt-in because people are just getting to know you and this gives them an opportunity to learn more about what you do.
A great place to add a call to action to contact you is on your services page. After someone has looked at what you offer, this is a clear place to put a call to action to reach out and work with you.
